Episode Notes: Ares
Continuity Errata
-- Ares' physical form is a large, hulking creature. In later episodes he will appear human.
-- Ares supposedly gives Aurelius his own blood; according to him, it is pure poison and will kill Hercules. Later episodes will contradict this.
Actors and Actresses
-- Al Chalk, who did the voiceover for the opening sequence (and the minotaur's voice in Hercules in the Maze of the Minotaur) voiced Ares.
Mythological Connections
-- Aurelius was also the name of a Roman emperor, Marcus.
-- Atalanta, a famous female warrior, was known for the fact that she could physically best men in male-only sports. She participated in the first Olympic Games and was also an Argonaut.
-- Animal sacrifices, such as Hercules found in Hera's temple, were commonly used for divining the future or to make offerings to (and ask boons of) the gods.
